A Trip to Niagara Falls, Canada

Find a perfect getaway for your friends and family at the marvelous Niagara Falls in Ontario, Canada. You’ll be sure to have a dreamlike experience sighting the three waterfalls as the Niagara River crashes over the Niagara escarpment. You can view the falls from Canada or the USA side, and in both cases, the views are spectacular. Whether you opt for a solo trip or have your friends or kids tag along, it will be a worthwhile and memorable experience for everyone.

Explore more while visiting the falls

Apart from the magnificent falls that will provide awesome photos for you to take home, the park also offers myriad other activities to keep visitors entertained. These are such as the Old Fort Niagara, the Niagara Skywheel, and in case you do not visit with kids, you can also visit the Niagara Fallsview Casino as well sampling some of Niagara’s finest wines. Niagara is renowned for its famous wine trail. Be sure to sample their ice wine while you are there.

Maid of the Mist

You can’t visit the Niagara Falls and fail to take a ride on the maid of the mist boat. The trip takes about 20 minutes, and the prices are quite affordable. I would, however, advise you to make it for the ride early if you want to beat the crowds. The boat rides begin at 9 am, and although you are provided with a poncho, you should be ready for a wet ride. The maid of the mist will practically dunk you under the falls, giving you an experience of the Niagara Falls that you will live to remember.

Niagara Park and Butterfly Sanctuary

The Niagara park botanical gardens are a perfect escape from the thunderous falls and tourist crowds. The gardens are a must-see for nature lovers as the 100-acre stretch is home to perfectly maintained gardens. If you plan your visit during the summer, you will be lucky to enjoy guided horseback rides, touring the gardens in style. The park also acts as a butterfly sanctuary, and you will enjoy taking pictures of thousands of beautiful butterflies among the garden’s flowers.

Old Fort Niagara

20 minutes north of the Niagara Park is the old fort Niagara. The site is historical, being the grounds where Native American, British, and French soldiers worked in the 18th – 20th centuries. The site is on the USA side of the falls, having changed hands between the American, French and British troops. If you are a lover of ancient history, you will love learning about the wars that have been on the site, including the American Revolution and the French and Indian war.

Inniskilin Winery

Away from the falls themselves, there is one more thing that Niagara is well known for, wine. Ask any wine lover that has been to Niagara, and they will tell you that you have to stop at Inniskilin winery. The winery is located north along the Niagara parkway and it is well known for its ice wine. The wine is made from grapes that are left to freeze on the vine during winter, and then later allowed to thaw, thus intensifying their flavor. The region attracts huge crowds, and you can be sure to interact with fellow wine lovers while on your tour.

Niagara falls are a favorite destination for anyone looking for a memorable trip for their holidays. Whether you are planning for a solo trip to rejuvenate your mind and take some awesome holiday pictures or a trip with your family and loved ones, this is a destination you should consider.
